The Perfumer
Emmanuel is a French-born, Belgian perfumer based in Copenhagen and co-founder of En Doft.
Raised in Le Var, in the south of France, his early connection to scent was shaped by the Mediterranean landscape — pine, fig, dry earth, and salt air. Summers spent between the countryside and Saint-Tropez continue to influence his sensibility.
His approach to perfumery was refined through training in Grasse and Manosque, followed by years living and working across France, Belgium, Scandinavia, and along the Mediterranean coast. Experiences within interiors, candle making, and spatial installations expanded his understanding of scent beyond composition — towards atmosphere.
Fragrance is approached spatially. Through proportion, rhythm, contrast, and restraint.
The entry introduces the composition.
The structure creates depth and direction.
The foundation remains — quiet, lasting, essential.
Each material serves a purpose. Nothing excessive. Nothing unnecessary.
Between Nordic clarity and Mediterranean warmth — precision and softness. Simplicity and texture.
A fragrance is finished only when nothing more asks to be added — and nothing can be taken away.
